叙情的でメランコリックなシンセフレーズやメロディーをレイヤーする独自の作風は、時にダンサブルに、そしてビートレスなアプローチからアンビエントな世界観までを両立させる唯一無二のサウンドで知られる。世界中の多くのリスナーから支持を受け、国内外の レーベルから作品を多数リリース。2001年ドイツのレーベル〈KOMPAKT〉よりKaito名義で7 枚のEP、8枚のアルバムをリリース。2014年ケルンにてWDRオーケストラとの共演を果 たし、2016年Derrick May主宰の〈Transmat Records〉から日本人初の「MULTIVERSE」を リリース。代表作として、交響詩篇エウレカセブンの挿入曲「GETIT BY YOUR HANDS」、 宮崎県の民謡を現代的アプローチで表現した「TAKACHIHO」など。2024年秋にKaitoの最新アルバム「collection」がフランス、パリに拠点をおく〈InFiné Music〉からリリースされた。

His music blends danceable rhythms withambient soundscapes, earning him a dedicated global audience.After graduating from Tokyo College of Music High School, he studied MusicSynthesis at Berklee College of Music. Watanabe has released numerous works oninternational labels, most notably under his Kaito alias on Germany’s KOMPAKT,where he has released eight albums, including the acclaimedEverlastingandSpecialLife. He contributed “GetItByYourHands”to the anime“EurekaSeven”,later reworked for its 2017 featurefilm.Watanabe has collaborated with the “WDR Orchestra” in Cologne and was thefirstJapanese artist to release on Derrick May’s Transmat Records with “Multiverse”in2016. In recent years, he has continued to evolve his sound, releasing “Collection”on InFiné Music and further exploring immersive storytelling through electronicmusic.
