日本のドラムンベース界を代表するトップDJとしてジャンルを超え、シーンを牽引しているTETSUJI TANAKA – DJ / プロデューサー / ラジオパーソナリティ。4decks masterと称されるフリー・インプロヴィゼーションを駆使した楽曲を瞬時にコントロールするミックスマスターである。90年代後期、そのキャリアをスタート。DJキャリア20年以上を誇る。2001 – 2004年ロンドン在住でのDJ及び音楽活動を経て帰国後、日本のドラムンベース／ベースミュージック・シーンを代表するパイオニアで22周年を迎えた最高峰DBSのトップ・レジデントを10年以上務め、全国各地の主要クラブや海外パーティーのヘッドライナー/レジデントを持ち、国内外の大型フェス出演、ortofon Japanのオフィシャル・サポートDJ、ラジオパーソナリティーなど多岐に渡り活躍。2019年にはWOMBドラムンベースのニューパーティーJDNBAのレジデントDJに就任。各シーンの代表格らが番組を持つインターネットラジオ局block.fmの看板番組で国内唯一のドラムンベース人気番組Localize!!のメインパーソナリティーを10年以上務めているジャパニーズ・ドラムンベース界のアイコンDJである。
TT & NAVE名義で楽曲、リミックスワークも数多く手掛け、2011年ユニット結成後、翌年〈fragrance records〉よりデビューシングル「Northern Point」をリリース。リミックスワークは、柴咲コウのgalaxias! 「Boys & Girls」のオフィシャル・リミックス、m-flo 「All I Want Is You (TT & NAVE Remix)」などメジャー・ワークスから環ROY、日之内エミ x Cook Classics 「Flow (TT & NAVE REMIX)」が異例の大ヒットを記録。立て続けに〈FLASH CUBE〉よりnouvo nude「AOB(ft. Mayu Bingo)(TT & NAVE REMIX)」やRAM「S.C.A ft. Mayu Wakisaka(TT & NAVE REMIX)」がクラブアンセム化している。海外リリースでは、世界中のチャートを席巻したTIESTOとの共作「Just Be」などを歌い上げたUKを代表するナショナル・クラブ・シンガーKirsty Hawkshaw主宰のレーベル〈WELLHEAD RECORDS〉よりTOBIAS ZALDUA「Let It Go with Kirsty Hawkshaw(TT & NAVE REMIX)」をリリースするなど国内外で活躍を続けている。そして2014年10月に日之内エミ、DMC世界5連覇KIREEK、海外から〈NINJA TUNE〉のPEST、電子音楽の奇才 / TVタレントのMorley Robertsonなど国内外豪華共演者を多数フィーチャリングした1stアルバム「encode」を〈elenic productions〉より発表！
A driving force behind the music world as a DJ, radio personality, and producer, TETSUJI TANAKA has managed to retain his identity as an iconic representative of Japan’s drum & bass scene while pushing ahead towards new frontiers across other genres. The sheer energy and hypnotic showmanship in his performance matched with his unparalleled technique is a spectacle to be seen, never failing to set audiences alight. With a career spanning back to the 90’s, years behind the decks have enabled him to hone his skills as an improvisational mix master. During his time living and DJing in London from 2001-2004, he established his signature style- -his widely-acclaimed 4-decks set. Upon returning to Japan, he was bestowed with the role of top resident of Japan’s longest-running large-scale drum & bass / bass music event, ”DBS – Drum & Bass Sessions.” In Japan as well as abroad, Tetsuji has headlined countless major events and has appeared at many top-tier festivals, including Japan’s largest outdoor rave “Metamorphose,” The Hacienda Oiso Festival in Kanagawa, Japan, and Malasimbo Lights & Dance Festival 2015, the largest festival in the Philippines. His immense popularity at home is bolstered by his weekly program “Localize!!” on Japanese internet dance music radio station Block.fm, where he presents the latest and best selections from both domestic and international artists on Japan’s only official regular drum & bass radio program. As his popularity exploded with the success of “Localize!,” it was time for Tetsuji to take the next step as an artist and pursue music production. In 2011, Tetsuji formed a production partnership TT & NAVE, and their first single “Northern Point” was released on Fragrance Records in Japan the following year. Their original works caught the attention of top artists both domestically and worldwide, leading TT & NAVE to produce remix work for the likes of Japanese superstars m-flo, legendary U.K. vocalist Kirsty Hawkshaw, and many others. In August 2014, TT & NAVE released their 1st full-length artist album “Encode” on Elenic Productions. The album features the duos’ original productions as well as collaborative works with multinational artists, including 5-time-successive DMC world champions KIREEK, PEST- FEDKA THE IRRITANT from NINJA TUNE, and many others. As one of the most in-demand DJs in Japan, Tetsuji continues to amaze audiences week after week with his jaw-dropping performances, and he plans on expanding his touring further into Asia from 2015 onwards.
