As a DJ, label head, radio host and curator with over a decade of experience in the music industry, Marco Weibel is a connector in the truest sense of the word. Whether crisscrossing genres behind the decks or hosting events, he’s known to draw a diverse crowd that quickly become loyal followers. Centred around the spirit of community, his parties foster friendships that reflect music’s unifying nature.
Originally from Singapore but based in New York since 2014, Marco comes from a rich cultural heritage that’s reflected in his DJ sets. His selections traverse a range of sounds, often jumping from Dub to Chicago House to Jungle in a single session—a testament to his deep crates and skilled mixing. Inspired by legendary parties and spaces such as Paradise Garage, The Shelter, Plastic People and Deviation, Marco explores old and new underground styles in the spirit of educating and entertaining dancers.
A regular on the US and Asian nightlife circuits, he’s played at Nowadays, Good Room and Public Records in New York, Dante’s HiFi in Miami, Razzmatazz in Barcelona, Potato Head in Bali and many more. He’s also made waves on the global festival circuit with appearances at Dimensions, Singapore Jazz Festival, Art Basel in Miami and Art Dubai. His mixes have been featured on Resident Advisor (“a true digger’s delight”), DJ Mag (“a DJ’s DJ, trusted by many”), XLR8R (“a mix that’ll suck you in wherever you are”), Stamp The Wax, NTS, Worldwide FM, Crack Magazine, Red Light Radio, Vans CH66, Red Bull Music Academy and Balamii.
Renowned worldwide for co-hosting his six year-old ‘Darker Than Wax FM’ radio show on New York’s The Lot Radio, the weekly program has developed a cult listenership, serving as an essential resource for music lovers across the globe. Known for showcasing emerging talents before they blow up, his shows have hosted the likes of Yaeji, Byron The Aquarius, AceMo and Scratcha DVA, among others.
Spearheading US operations for Singapore-based record label Darker Than Wax (DTW), Marco handles releases, programming and some A&R. DTW has been championed by the likes of Gilles Peterson, Bradley Zero, Mixmag and others. In 2020, he curated his own compilation series ‘Various Channels Vol.1 : NYC’ on DTW that received support from Resident Advisor, Benji B and placements on Spotify’s editorial playlists. ‘Vol. 2’ is now in the works.
When he’s not DJing / hosting radio or planning gigs, Marco creates commercial playlists for Bespoke Sound who service sound identity for boutique hotels to creative agencies.
