反復に潜む有機的リズムがフロアと共鳴しグルーヴが創造される——。大阪を拠点に活動を続け、ターンテーブリストの世界で輝かしいキャリアを培ってきたDJHI-Cは、昨今テクノミュージックの世界、より強固な反復性と長尺の物語にある様式美の世界で、波紋を起こす存在としてシーンで異彩を放つようになった。DJHI-Cが奏でるロングセットの中では、日本の野外シーンもその発展の一翼を担ったアンビエントテクノ/サイケデリックテクノの境界を基点としながら、よりプリミティヴなダブサウンド、そして本能を強烈に刺激するドラムサウンドが革新的な方法で融合されている。時折織り込まれるスクラッチサウンド（あるいは意図的に伸縮された音の粒子の残像とも形容できる）は、ダンスフロアのグルーヴをより強固なものへと昇華させ、人々の琴線に触れるような情緒的な展開がオーディエンスの心を掴んで離さない。トラックが持つ特有のサウンドを、最も小さな単位まで分解し、それらを再構築するという卓越したDJHI-Cの能力は、彼がCDJをターンテーブルと同様に無限の可能性を持った楽器の1つであると考えているからである。キャリアの初期には、ターンテーブリストユニット〈Kireek〉の片割れとして活動を行い前人未到のDMC世界5連覇を成し遂げた経歴を持ち、〈Kireek〉解散後にテクノ・ミュージックの世界へと活動の軸を移した。2022年に始動させた大阪発のテクノレーベル〈aumrecordings〉を通じて、プロデューサーとしても存在感を示し、2024年11月には自身のスタイルを研ぎ澄ませた3作目のEP『EN』をリリース。「曇間から差し込む光」を想起させる繊細な音響美を追求し、wabi-sabiの美学を音で表現する試みとして各所から高い評価を得ている。またDJHI-Cは、奈良県のまだ神聖さを保つ数少ない地域、天川村にて開催される野外音楽フェスティバル〈MOMENT〉のレジデントDJの1人であり、同フェスティバルを数年で日本を代表する野外パーティへと成長させた。独自の道を貫く音楽性は、国内外の様々なシーンからも評価が高く、2023年には〈FUJIROCKFESTIVAL〉に出演。また同年大晦日には日本最高峰のテクノパーティの1つ〈FUTURETERROR〉へも出演を果たした。複数のジャンルで世界からも認められる功績をのこしたDJHI-Cは、いまターンテーブリズムの美学を継承する稀有なDJの1人として、未知なるサウンドを求める各国のシーンからも指名が絶えない存在となっている。

Organic rhythms hidden in repetition resonate with the floor and then grooves are created. DJHI-C, who has been based in Osaka and cultivated a brilliant career in the world of turntablists, has recently come to distinguish himself in the scene as a stirring presence in the world of techno music, a beauty in a more robust repetition and long narratives. In the longset splayed by DJHI-C, more primitive dub sounds and drum sounds that intensely stimulate the instincts are fused togethe rininnovative ways, while using the boundaries of ambient / psychedelictechno, of which the Japanese outdoor scene also played a part in its development, as a base point. The scratchy sounds (or after images of deliberately stretched and contracted sound particles) that are occasionally woven into the music elevate the dance floor groove to a firmer one, and the emotional developments that tug at people’s heartstrings keep the audience on their toes. DJHI-C’s remarkable ability to break down a track’s unique sound into its smallest units and reconstruct them is due to his belief that the CDJ, like the turntable, is an instrument with endless possibilities. Early in his career, he was one half of the turntablist unit Kireek, which won an unprecedented five consecutive DMC world championships. In November 2024, he released his third EP, “EN,” in which he sharpened his own style, pursuing a delicate acoustic beauty reminiscent of “light shining through the clouds,” and has received high praise from various quarters as an attempt to express wabi-sabi’s aesthetics through sound. DJHI-C is also one of the resident DJs of “Moment,” an outdoor music festival held in Tenkawamura Village, one of the few areas in Nara Prefecture that still retains its sanctity, and has helped the festival grow into one of Japan’s leading outdoor parties in a few years. His unique musical style has been highly acclaimed by various scenes in Japan and abroad, and in 2023 he performed at “FUJIROCKFESTIVAL”. On New Year’s Eve of the same year, they performed at one of the best techno parties in Japan, FutureTerror”.DJHI-C, who has achieved international recognition in multiple genres, is now one of the rare DJs who inherits the aesthetics of turntablism, and is being sought after by scenes around the world that are seeking new and unknown sounds.
